North Maine offers much for the traveler, as it is home to beautiful park areas, several museums and also hosts fun-filled annual events. Hiking, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, camping and fishing are popular pastimes in North Maine's parks, which include Aroostook State Park in Presque Isle. This recreational haven was Maine's first state park and encompasses over 800 acres (324 ha).
